RV Park Vacations

Going on an RV Park vacation by yourself or with your family in your sturdy reliable RV can be a well deserved exciting adventure, but, as in any adventure, it is important to plan ahead and be prepared before you hit the road. Listed below are some tips to help you make the most of your RV Park vacation experience.

  1. Accidents sometimes happen, so pack a first aid kit and make sure you know where the hospitals are located. While one would hope that nothing bad should happen on their adventure, emergencies sometimes happen and you will want to be prepared. It is also handy to keep a flashlight on board and extra batteries. A camera can also be used not only for sightseeing pictures, but to document any potentials damages should an accident occur.
  2. Before you head out on the road, check to make sure your RV is working properly and that everything is in its proper spot. Checking the mirrors, tires, and compartments are all good ideas. Don’t forget to double check your hookups. This will not only keep you from forgetting anything on your trip and making sure everything is safe, but will help you remember where you keep everything.
  3. Be prepared for non ideal road conditions and don’t misjudge snow or rain. Be aware of upcoming traffic or obstacles that could keep you idling for stretches of time. Keep an eye on that gas tank.
  4. Take breaks and stop at lots of rest stops. It isn’t a bad idea to keep your driving to under 400 miles at a time, because driver fatigue can be dangerous to passengers and other vehicles on the road. Taking breaks also allows your RV to rest and prevents it from overheating. RV parks are a great place to rest and relax a bit. You might even meet some new people.
  5. You can avoid hot weather and added stress on your RV by driving in the mornings or afternoons. In warmer climates, you can even drive during the night and nap during the heat of the day, when you are more tired anyways.
  6. Check the seals around your windows and doors if you experience water leaks. Make sure to repair any damages or take care of any problems as quickly as possible. Waiting until it’s too late can mean a bigger problem and a more expensive solution.
  7. In order to save fuel, use a portable heater to keep warm instead of propane, which can empty your tank quickly, especially when idling.
  8. Be a smart shopper and go to the grocery store before your trip. You will save loads of money by making your own food instead of eating out every night. This way you will have more money to spend on fun activities and other luxuries.
Remember that non-perishables are you friend and snacks come in handy when you your passengers get hungry and you don’t have time to stop and prepare a meal. This way, you will also be able to limit your stops to get food and will have more time for fun adventures.
