How to Install The CoolRVToyz Ultimate RV Parks & Campgrounds Directory on Your TomTom GPS

In order to use this CoolRVToyz Custom Points of Interest (POI) List, you will need to install the list on your TomTom GPS device.  This is a simple process and will only take a few moments.  Please follow the steps below to install to your GPS and begin enjoying this product.

When you installed the RV Parks & Campgrounds List to your computer, the installation created a folder on your C: drive named C:\CoolRVToyz\TomTom.  The files you need to copy to your TomTom GPS are in that folder.

  1. Connect your GPS to your computer with the USB cable.  Your GPS should show up as a removable drive in My Computer.

  2. Open My Computer and go to the C:\CoolRVToyz\TomTom\RV Parks & Campgrounds\OV2 & BMP Files folder.

Inside this folder you’ll see 58 files, 29 of them have a .OV2 extension and 29 of them have the same name as the .OV2 files, but have a .BMP extension. Each pair of files may only show on your screen as the same name without an extension if you have Windows set to not show you files extensions.  This is okay.

  3. Select these files in pairs.  The easiest way is to simply copy all the files.  However, if you don’t want to install 12 categories, then select each pair of files for the categories you want to install.  Right-click them and select Copy from the popup menu.
  4. Go back to My Computer and open your TomTom GPS by double-clicking on the TomTom removable disk icon.

  5. Locate the folder in your TomTom that is your Map folder.  This folder is named differently on different models.  In the example above, our test TomTom came loaded with the US and Canada, so our map folder is named USA_and_Canada.  Your’s may be named differently based on the maps your unit came configured with.  Double-click this “Map” folder to open it.
  6. Right click on the blank space inside your United States Map folder of your TomTom and select Paste from the popup menu.  This will copy the .OV2 and .BMP files from the C:\CoolRVToyz\RV Parks List\OV2 & BMP Files folder to your GPS.  You should then have the .OV2 and BMP files you copied in your “Map” folder similar to what’s shown below:

  7. Disconnect your GPS from your computer.
  8. Turn on your GPS.
  9. In some cases it may be necessary to enable the POI’s you just loaded.  To do this, tap the TomTom screen and select Change Preferences, and select Enable/Disable POIs (it is labeled MANAGE POIs On some models).
  10. Enable the POI files you want by clicking their check box.  You can come back here any time and enable or disable various POI groups as needed.
  11. Press DONE and you’re ready to use you GPS.

Happy RV’ing!
